Tips on Moving houses during Christmas and New Year

December a month of festivities and lots of celebrations across the country. 2021 has been tough for some of us especially in the Auckland area as we faced the longest lockdown to date in New Zealand. Things have been very different compared to normal life prior to covid-19 hitting our shores and we are just a few days away from starting a new year as we get used to a new way of life with new traffic light system introduced by the NZ government to somewhat have a normal life for the majority of us that are now fully vaccinated.

We would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year from the Stress Free Movers team in Auckland. We are also delighted to have helped thousands of kiwi families in Auckland move houses and still are very busy as we come towards the festival season. The team is focused on the bookings we must get our fellow kiwi families moved prior to Christmas and New Year so, that they can enjoy there time together in their new homes.

Some tips below to help with your move during Christmas and New Year around the corner.

Tip #1 – Book your move early as you can

We all know it is a busy period when it comes to December so, it makes sense to have booked your house move with a  moving company as early as you can to ensure you are locked in and ready to move on your given date prior to the season.

Tip #2 – Consider your packing well in advance

It is quite stressful when moving houses at any given time of the year but during December it might become even more stressful with lots to plan for the season as well. Lots of gifts to buy, work parties, friendly get togethers etc. So, pack everything in advance and spare some time for the festival season and relax while the moving company takes care of the moving for you.

Tip #3 – Ensure you have changed your utilities over to the new home

Your power, water and internet need to be sorted in advance so that when you arrive at your new home everything is working. The last thing you want is to chase up a company to get your utilities sorted during the busy period and most office being shut down will make it even harder to get hold of the companies.

Tip #4 – Decorate your new home before you move in

Some Christmas lights and a Christmas tree can be set up in advance to your move to your new home prior to Christmas day. So, that you can enjoy the day with your family.

Tip #5 – Pack some essentials and deliver to the new home prior to the moving day

Some essentials can be packed that when you arrive on your moving day you have things handy for you to use straight away and you can worry about unpacking the rest of the things later when you get time in the holidays.

We hope the above tips help make your house move less stressful. It is important that we take the time to enjoy this festive season with our loved ones and look after each other in these tough times.

Enjoy the season and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from our movers in Auckland to you and your family.
